ACT Supports Increased Renewable Energy in Town

Andover is designing a new community choice aggregation program (CCA). In support of this program, Andover Community Trust shared the following statement on renewable energy in Andover.

Andover Community Trust (ACT) advocates for affordable housing in Andover, encompassing all low- and moderate-income families. ACT believes that Andover’s new Community Choice Aggregation program can promote environmental justice. We are proponents for as many MA Class I renewable energy certificates (RECs) as possible without increasing the price per kWh above National Grid’s pricing. According to NIH studies, low-income communities experience disproportionate environmental harms. We believe it is the responsibility of individuals and communities that are more affluent to invest in renewable energy wherever possible to help reduce these harms. Maintaining current electricity pricing for our residents and small businesses while increasing RECs as much as possible promotes environmental justice and invests in local jobs without burdening homeowners and renters in affordable housing.
