Two Citations and a Celebration

In 1992 Susan Stott approached her pastor at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Andover and ardently advocated for someone to address affordable housing in Andover. As Susan tells it, the pastor told her that was an important issue and she should be the one to take up the cause. So she did. She created Andover Community Trust.

Thirty years later friends, ACT homeowners, long-time supporters gathered to celebrate the positive impact ACT has had on affordable housing in Andover. State Representative Tram Nguyen presented Andover Community Trust with a House of Representatives Citation recognizing

“Your 30th anniversary of building, supporting and advocating for permanently affordable homes in Andover.”

State Senator Barry Finegold shared a State Senate Citation congratulating Susan in recognition of being honored by ACT and for her continued dedication and service to the town of Andover. Select Board member Melissa Danisch, Marilyn Fitzgeral, Greater Lawrence Technical School (GLTS) District Committee member and former State Senator Susan Tucker were also on hand to share their appreciation.

The celebration was also a bit of a block party as Stott Circle (named in honor of Susan Stott) neighbors gathered together, some meeting one another for the first time, as the final unit nears completion. The entire group gathered in front of units 3 and 4, which have been constructed by GLTS students along with some finishing touches from individuals who have donated their time.
