Andover Selected for MHP Grant
The Town of Andover has been selected as one of 3 towns to receive direct technical assistance from the Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) assistance team for the Andover Housing Trust Fund. The Housing Trust Fund provides a source of funding for the preservation and creation of affordable housing in town. The Fund’s Board of Trustees oversees the fund. Their members are appointed by the Town Manager for terms of 3 years.
MHP supports communities, housing authorities and non-profit housing organizations in efforts to create affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families.
Together MHP and Andover’s Housing Trust Fund Board of Trustees will review the town’s zoning and explore ways to promote more diverse housing options and affordability, including considering how Andover could use the Community Preservation Act.
Linda O’Connell, chair of the Housing Trust, commented that “Andover is very pleased to receive this grant. We are excited for this opportunity to gain access to MHP's wealth of knowledge and resources in order to help us achieve our mission of creating and preserving affordable housing in Andover.”
