ACT Supports Sustainability Resolution

Andover WECAN has created a Sustainability Resolution to address the climate emergency here in our community. The resolution states that ambitious and far-reaching actions must be taken to mitigate the worst of climate change and prepare us for a sustainable future. The Sustainability Resolution will be on the warrant at the Spring 2023 town meeting. Andover Community Trust shared the following statement in support of the Sustainability Resolution.

Andover Community Trust (ACT) commends Andover WECAN for its work to educate all of us on how to reduce climate change and work toward a sustainable future.  We endorse the Sustainability Resolution and look forward to developing priorities that drive measures that support sustainability for our community. 

ACT’s work in Andover centers on seeing moderate- and low-income families become homeowners. Our goal is to increase the number of long-lasting, permanently affordable homes for the community that will last from generation to generation. ACT is a great proponent of sustainability in affordable housing and its recent projects have met the stretch code energy requirements, earned a HERS rating of less than 48, met Energy Star standards and maximized energy efficiency of construction materials. Green design features have been included to reduce energy and water consumption. We believe passing the Sustainability Resolution and implementing new priorities for environmental, economic and social sustainability are critical to continue to meet the needs of future generations.
